What is Maladaptive Daydreaming and Why is it All Over TikTok?

MD Article Published in Fashion Journal Maladaptive Daydreaming was recently featured in an article, by Shaeden Berry, in Fashion Journal, one of Australia's leading fashion titles. From the article: If TikTok can guarantee anything, it’s that at some point during your scrolling, you’ll experience an illuminating moment of watching a video and thinking, ‘Wow, I thought I was the only one’. More than any other social media app, TikTok seems to have the uncanny ability to bring to light human commonalities. It either allows us to feel less alone or help us put a name to the strange habit we’ve always wondered about. For me, that was the case when a particular video crossed my For You Page. It depicted a girl zoned out, making facial expressions, with the superimposed text ‘Me ten minu...

Her Campus revisits the topic of MD You may remember another article from Her Campus, an online magazine created by, and catering to, college aged women, which featured UIC student Tayo Omoniyi sharing her experience as an MDer (to view that article click here). This month Her Campus revisits the topic of MD with a piece by, communications major, Carola Rios Perez. The article starts with an explination of MD before diving into Carola's personal experience with the condition. Here is an excerpt from the article: I believe that my ADHD is definitely involved in the process of these fantasies, given that I tend to hyperfixate on any given storyline that I concoct, rather than prioritize more pressing matters. My inability to focus on assignments isn’t anything new, as I’ve mentione...

MALADAPTIVE DAYDREAMING: PERCHÉ PUÒ FAR MALE E COME SMETTERE DI FARLO

Italian article published. An Italian-language article on Maladaptive Daydreaming was recently published by Agata Maini for The Wom. The Wom is an Italian language magazine for "new generation of women: free to be themselves, gritty, beautiful and (im)perfect."

Dreaming or Daydreaming During COVID-19 Lockdown: A Comparison Between Maladaptive and Nonmaladaptive Daydreamers

Italian Team Publishes Study in APA Journal Psychology of Consciousness Abstract: Starting from the idea that dreaming could be considered an index of the psychological health of individuals regarding the COVID-19 outbreak, a major risk of psychological maladjustment has been registered for maladaptive daydreamers. Nevertheless, there is a gap in literature about dreaming in MDers in general and particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic. The aim of this study was to investigate differences in dreaming and dream content between probable MDers and non-MDers during the COVID 19 lockdown in Italy. A total of 3,857 Italian adults (664 probable MDers), completed the Maladaptive Daydreaming Scale (MDS-16) and the Mannheim Dream Questionnaire (MADRE). Among them, 1,095 participants (222 pro...

When the crew members join in with the tribe’s lotus lunch, they take themselves out of the sphere of male labour and reduce themselves to female domesticity and ‘unmindfulness’. In another mythological...
